I love iris for their graceful shape and the variety of their colors.  I found this beauty on a visit to Shepard's Iris Garden in Phoenix one spring.  I was attracted by the contrast of vivid colors in these perfectly formed blooms.  This 5x5x 1 1/2" wrapped canvas is painted around all edges and needs no framing.  It is currently available at auction on the website www.dailypaintworks.com.

I began this oil painting with an under painting of bright red, leaving little bits of red showing in some areas as the painting progressed.
